Is it me or are the ‘80s coming back? Close enough. Florida natives The Black Kids have come out with their debut release, the correctly named Partie Traumatic. Channelling acts such as New Order, The Cure and B 52s, the retro pop-inspired songs flash back to the decade where hair was big and syntheses were the instrument of choice. All tracks are very danceable, catchy and singer Reggie Youngblood sings almost exactly like The Fratellis. The highlights include “Listen To Your Body Tonight”, “I’m Making Eyes at You”, “Hurricane Jane”, “I’ve Underestimated My Charm” and their single “I’m Not Gonna To Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance”.
